Once summer is over, you may feel the need to do a little cleaning before autumn and the holiday's approach. Summertime is the season for pool parties, BBQs, and overall entertaining at home. That being said, it’s easy for soft furnishings like armchairs and couches to collect an abundance of dirt and dust. Here are four easy ways to freshen up the appearance of your couch.
- Using the upholstery attachment, carefully run the vacuum over the couch. Take your time doing so, lifting cushions and vacuuming underneath. Don’t forget the corners and folds, as small particles can become trapped in these areas and deteriorate the fabric over time. This applies to leather couches too, not just ones made of fabric.
- Fluff the cushions. The more people that use your couch, the more it will begin to lose its shape. After vacuuming the couch, flip the cushions. Rotate them, change the placement, etc. This will slow down the wear and tear of the couch and help it stay in good shape longer.
- Remove stains and spills. So many tend to postpone cleaning spills and stains from their couches. This can permanently damage your couch, as it’s always a good idea to immediately act upon spills and stains. The sooner you clean them, the more likely you’ll be able to save your couch. There are many different upholstery cleaning products available; however, test a small area before using to make sure the product won’t damage the material.
- Have a professional cleaner take care of the job. If you don’t have time to clean the couch, hire a professional to do it for you. These folks have high-grade equipment and powerful cleaning solutions to remove dirt, dust, stains, pet dander, etc., from your couch. It’s not a bad idea to have a professional cleaning job done once or twice a year to help your furniture stay looking its best.
